The computer
has revolutionized our world over the last decade. It has done the
same
for printmaking technology. Gone are the days of the lithograph
as a source for fine art prints, in their place stand giclees.Giclee
(jhee-clay) is a French word that means "a spray or spurt of
liquid."
With a giclee print, your artwork is transformed into a high resolution
scan that
is printed with archival inks onto the art paper of your choosing.
Giclees provide superior accuracy than other forms of reproduction,
because each substrate has an ICC Color profile created uniquely
for it to ensure optimum color accuracy. Giclee prints are ideal
for artists who do wish to produce their art on an on demand basis
rather than a mass production that may not neccessarily sell all
of the prints. Our giclees are created using the HP 5000 DesignJet
and the Epson 9600 large format printers. This technology enables
us to produce highly detailed prints for the fine arts. The use
of digital scans also makes reproduction quick, easy, and cost effective
once the initial processing is done. It also allows for the artist
to be more creative and the ability to reproduce their art in almost
any size and on any paper they desire - opening up new markets for
their work and allowing for customization.
The quality
of your image is important to us. The Color Company brings over 30
yearsof
experience in color separation and color correction to your project. We
use UV pigmented archival ink, which provides superior results and
a gauranteed life expectancy of 100 years or more under museum conditions.
With our ability to write our own ICC Profiles for almost any paper
and canvas, we are able to provide you with unlimited creative possibilities.
